Madden 07

Has anybody heard any news on the upcoming Madden game? I'd like to see them improve the injuries. Make them real, have a cart come out on the field etc. Maybe make a game plan mode to where the head coach is working with other coaches and players. Have a better scouting mode to wher you can view film on the other team. Maybe I'm asking for to much. Anybody else have any ideas of what they would like to see?

Oh yea, add a great half time show!

Im pretty big madden fan, and a pretty good one if I might add lol, but i havent heard anything on it. I think its about time for a Wide Reciever to be on the cover this year, i hope chad makes it. I hope they do something special with the recivers in the game. And they should make the announcers better make it more realistic.

The Madden Curse is real!

I was a skeptic for the first 4years.

But after what happened to Mcnabb, I am a believer! Trust me, you don't wan't any Bengals on the cover of Madden.

Poor Schmoes

Eddie George

Duante Culpepper

Marshall Faulk

Michael Vick

Ray Lewis

Donovan Mcnabb

The "Madden Curse"

Prior to 2000, all of the Madden NFL game box covers prominently featured John Madden only. When EA started to have NFL players on the cover of the Madden NFL games, some later (half-jokingly) speculated that there was a "Madden curse": a coincidental series of misfortunes that befell the product's cover-boys. People started noticing a pattern when the Atlanta Falcons' star player, quarterback Michael Vick, was injured during the 2003 preseason after posing for the cover of Madden 2004. Vick suffered a broken fibula in a pre-season game against Baltimore, the day after Madden 2004 was released to retailers. The injury resulted in a painful 5-11 year for Vick's team. Some of the people that believed in the curse stated that the player featured on the box would get injured, or simply have a weak season.

The first NFL player to be on a Madden NFL cover was Barry Sanders in 1999, for Madden 2000. He shared the cover with the then-customary picture of John Madden. However, a week before training camp began in 1999, Sanders abruptly retired -- ending his career and leaving the Detroit Lions without their star running back of the previous 10 years. Sanders' part in the curse is debated because he is not pictured alone on the box, and because he left by his own choice.

Eddie George, then of the Tennessee Titans, who graced the 2001 box, was the second 'cursed' player. He was cursed by bobbling a pass in the playoffs, which was then intercepted by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who returned the ball for a touchdown. George, (up until then) known for his durability, would also get injured the following season. After regularly averaging nearly 4 yards per carry in his first five seasons, he averaged only 3 yards per carry in the 2001 season. For the rest of his career, he never averaged more than 3.5 yards per carry.

Former Minnesota Vikings star quarterback Daunte Culpepper appeared on the 2002 cover and, although he didn't suffer any type of injury the following season, he saw his totals for passing yardage and touchdown passes, as well as his quarterback rating, drop sharply, as well as missing the playoffs.

Running back Marshall Faulk of the St. Louis Rams, who was on the 2003 box, suffered an injury and had a bad season overall. He has yet to break 1,000 yards rushing since.

Madden 2005 featured Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens. He had an injury that kept him out of the last game of the regular season. The Ravens won it, but still missed the playoffs altogether. It was also Lewis' first season without a single interception, after posting a career-high 6 the previous year.

EA officials point out that Ray Lewis and Eddie George appeared on the covers of the 2005 and 2001 versions, respectively, and had successful seasons without injury. [1]

The Philadelphia Eagles' star quarterback Donovan McNabb is on the cover of the current version, Madden NFL 06. Prior to the beginning of the 2005 season, McNabb began having a feud with fellow teammate, wide receiver Terrell Owens. In the first game of the regular season, McNabb took a hit to the chest from the helmet of Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Chad Lavalais. After the game, it was revealed that McNabb had a 'sports hernia' (i.e., a serious rupture of the lower abdominal muscles key to quick running and torso movements) that needed surgery. Refusing to have the required season-ending surgery while the Eagles (who had made the Super Bowl the previous season) still had a chance to make the playoffs, he played in discomfort and pain throughout the season. Later in the tenth game of the season, McNabb re-injured his groin while attempting to tackle Dallas Cowboys defensive back Roy Williams, who was returning an interception for the eventual game-winning touchdown. On November 21, 2005, McNabb, on the advice of his doctors, opted to have season-ending surgery for his sports hernia; the Eagles had been eliminated from playoff contention.

NO then he'll suffer the curse!

ESPN 2K5 had a really in-depth scouting feature, and you could work out players during the week and such...it was too much, I ended up turning the feature off. Maybe Madden could do it better.

aye could be bit of a pain the whole putting this player do this for 2 hours this for 3 when it diden't even exsplain it.....but I liked the draft alot better in it

Does anybody have the new xbox? If so is it worth the money. Would it be worth buying to play the new madden game on?

I do, and no don't buy it just rent it! EA rushed this one a little bit and it lacks features that it has on the original xbox. They will improve it with 07, but 06 was just a little rushed, but still a fun fun fun game.

Here is the Review for the Game: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/mad...w.html?q=madden

there is also a video review of the game on that page.

The Good: Player models, coaches, stadiums, and menus are major upgrades over anything you've seen before; new play-calling menus are a breeze to get through; gameplay is true to the series; new commentator is better than you'd expect.

The Bad: Many of the unique gameplay features of the last couple of Madden games are missing; lots of missing modes--all you get is a husk of a franchise mode and online play; some unsightly animation and graphical hang-ups that stick out all the more on a next-gen console; you can't challenge plays.

If you want to play just straight up football, then I guess it worth the it for the awesome graphics but if you want all the stuff thats in the current version like the Superstar mode, mini games etc.

Personally I like the Xbox but I'm not buying one until the PS3 is released in November, so I have a choice of which is a better system. I know its 8 months away but I just say they will release it when its done. Cause im on my 2nd PS2 my first one was one of the first and I got the infamous DISC READ ERROR message all the time and now I have a slim PS2 and havent had a bit a problem with it. So I think Sony Is making sure they have all there ducks in a row before its released. The reason it was delayed in the first place was cause the new Blue Ray (Bit of Blue Ray info: On a single layer disc it can hold 25GB of info, 50GB on a Dual layer disc compared to 4GB on DVD ) drive they were having issues with and they havent finalized the final product yet. But there are some pretty kick ass games for the Xbox 360 don't get me wrong, the new Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is an awesome game, so is Call of Duty 2, Burnout Revenge, and Fight Night Round 3.

I think PS2 far exceeded Xbox, exceot for one thing.

I play some, but not alot, and I mean not alot, and I've been through three PS2's. I don't know if it was bad luck. My first one lasted about four years, new one last like four months. Bought one off my buddy, lasted about seven months. I even traded parts on them to try and get some gaming in to no avail. Had a slim for about a year or year and a half and am still nervous as hell.

Worse part about it, I'll still probably buy the PS3 :D

Sorry, I'm too lazy right now to read the review, but I thought the new xbox wasn't really that good unless you had HDTV.

There is a morning radio show in Minneapolis near where I live that every week they bring in one of top EA guys and talk to him about all of their games. Well, they were pressing him for information on who will be on the cover for 2007, although he didn't give it up he hinted that Carson Palmer and Shaun Alexander were two names that were being thrown around. But the guy was going into detail how they like to put guys who play the game on the cover and he brought up that Carson was on their NCAA game cover and they would like to put him back on the cover because he's a big fan of the game. This was around November so, I'm sure with Alexander getting MVP he's probably on top of the list now.

I actually write for this site occasionally: www.maddenmania.com. Two of my articles are probably still on their front page somewhere. I don't know.

Anyway, it's the top Madden website on the net & there is some excellent information to be found there.

EDIT: Yep. Found them.

&

They're not particularly good. It took me about an hour to complete each one. Just something I do in my spare time.

I'd also like to see the kicking game improve. I have never blocked a FG or extra point! What about the end of game celebration. Have the coach get soaked! Interview the players after the game, etc. Have Chad propose to a cheerleader!

Oh yea, one more thing, Add the QB challenge to the pro bowl and let us use Boomer, Dan, Elway etc to compete.

Hopefully that smack Big Ben is on the cover so the curse lives...

Madden has some work to do, hopefully PS3 (if it ever comes out) will introduce us to a new age of Madden. Would love to see a scroller on the screen similar to the networks showing either the player stats or scores from other games when in franchise mode. Also time for Madden to improve the AI again, why do they leave the same qb in when he throws 6 picks for the game, smarten the damn game up a bit!
