bb.gun77
for years cincinnati has been the siberia of the nfl. are free agents looking at cincinnati differently since marvin is here? remember, the front office isn't well respected throughout the league. if dexter jackson is the biggest fish we land were in trouble. i live in orlando, fl and have seen plenty of mr. jackson and he is "toast" hawkins with a couple gift interceptions in a big game. granted, the front office has taken care of a few of our own (palmer, rudi, chad, willie, richie, housh) but those guys were already here and are on the offense. it is now time to land a couple BIG TIME free agents on defense because that is where the problems are. i'm just afraid that cincinnati is still an undesireable place to be if you are a big time free agent looking for big time money or a ring. hopefully a few more winning seasons and everyone will forget how it was. Whur CHad At?
No they don't find it very attractive, cause they know they won't get paid here. That is pretty much the biggest reason.
HoTbOy
You see what happened when the Bengals found out we were the only 1's bidding on WSapp the lowered their offer....and he went walking to da Raiderz....who wants to practice in 0 dergree weather...that's why we get these 2nd tier FA all the time... I am not into getting into battles here but to say that players don't go to cincy because of the weather makes no sense. Players nowadays go to where the money is. Cincinatti is only bad with weather towards the end of the regular season and this is after players have warmed up to it. I would have liked to have gotten Sapp but that is history. I think we don't sign top free agents now because Marvin is building through the draft. The reason we used to get noone is cuz we sucked, bottom line. I think he took Jackson not only because he is a good talent but also so he isn't forced to take a safety with our first rounder. I think they will sign one more good free agent at least either arrington, adams, or the packers dt. Look for Marvin to continuing building through the draft like he has been since he got here. Also, if carson palmer doesn't come back we are screwed. Look at the chargers last year. After their slow start they had to pretty much run the table which they were unable to do and if we dont get carson back we will start slow to and I don't think we could recover from that. Our defense isnt good enough to pull a chicago bears. Hopefully carson will be back by week 2 and we can beat a week team with whatever scrubby ass qb we get. We should get tim couch. Whur CHad At?
You need veteran leadership...you can't win a Super Bowl with rookies, it just won't happen. You need to sign some good veterans to help get you there.

I would also like to see arrington come here but not if he wants crazy money

EXACTLY what im saying...you know where the $ is at..it is with the teams who can afford a practice bubble for your team...Im not saying the players won't practice in the cold, im saying the team is TOO cheap to build a practice bubble

That is pretty much the biggest reason. You are so wrong. It's not that they won't get paid here, they won't get OVERPAID here. You need veteran leadership...you can't win a Super Bowl with rookies, it just won't happen. You need to sign some good veterans to help get you there. You do need veteran leadership, you're right about that, but you don't need to overpay them. You don't need free agents to do it. The draft is where teams are built. Keep your guys, treat them right, build team chemistry.Ask Washington how well you can buy vets to build a championship team.... HoTbOy
I have absolutely no problem with building in the draft, I think that is the way to go...everyone buys something 1 time in their life that they didn't need but wanted at the time...just once go pay a little for an Arrington if you think he can help the team...I'm not saying go crazy like the Skins do every, because you are right that gets you nowhere...but just once... USMC203
I agree with ALL of you. I say they should go forward and sign Adams and Jackson then draft Watson and Bunkly keep Smith. Run Robinson and Thornton out the town on a rail, and file a legal action against both of them to try to get our money refunded that was wasted for being the worst DTs in the NFL then get our OL resigned. HairOnFire
Is Cincy an attractive place for free agents to land yet? Where's TubThumper when you need him? No.
The_Next_Big_Thing
Will Cincy EVER be an attractive place for free agents to land?NO! Why? Because the fans bitch and whine about every one that's signed and don't support them at all. The fans can't support ownership that has turned the team around. They want to cut guys who were in a pro bowl a year ago. Why would anyone want to come to Cincinnati?

By the way, exactly what kind of veteran leadership would Sam Adams or Levar Arrington provide? They are both mercenaries.
