jbx182
while everyone's off speculating which huge FA the bengals should (but won't!) sign in the next few weeks, i wanna turn your attention to the other side of the ball. more specifically, the offensive line. i figure the bengals will approach either levi's agent or eric's (or both) after the draft/ before mini-camp, about a long term deal. now i say the bengals will sign one of them before training camp and probably the other after the season. so there's the left-side. now with ghiaciuc/wilkerson as the center, that leaves us the power side of the line. i believe the bengals will push for kooistra to be the starter at RG after william's deal is done. now i for one don't believe they'll break the bank to keep an aging willie (we love ya, but it's a business), i believe the bengals will draft a RT type to compete with Andrews and Kieft to be the future starter. and that pass-catching TE everyone thinks the bengals will draft on the first day, may just turn out to be a run-blocking T. Whur CHad At?
I don't understand why anyone wants to get rid of Willie. The guy is prob. the best lockerroom prescence in the league, and that is huge. He knows the financial situation the Bengals are in, and they won't give him s**tloads of money due to his age, and I think he would settle for something cheap in order not to screw the team. Plus, I haven't seen him show one sign of aging. The guy has been to the Pro Bowl two consecutive times, and still plays like he is a young man. He is prob. the best RT in the league. He is only 31 years old, he has at least 4 years left in him.

jbx182
no sign of him aging? is that why the bengals hold him out of practices all week? he's got no cartaliage left in his knee!! and he hasn't played in the last two pro bowls because of that knee! hey, i love the old vet too, i'm just saying i won't be surprised if the bengals take a T on the first day. you always have to have foward thinking in today's NFL! CantStop85
and he hasn't played in the last two pro bowls because of that knee!Key words there: "last two pro bowls" He's made it to the last 2 pro bowls...he seems to be doing fine to me. Who cares if he actually plays in a pro bowl?
The_Next_Big_Thing
I love Willie too, but he's in the last years of his career, and it is time to look at his replacement. If he wants big bucks, he'll need to look elsewhere. If he wants a ring and to retire a Bengal, he will need to be reasonable with his salary demands. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS WITH WILLIE, we still need to start looking at a skilled tackle to replace him within the next 3 years. If Stacy can do it, cool. If he can't, we'll find someone who can. ArmyBengal
Agree he won't be able to demand the insane contract or he'll be gone, but to say he's done now is just crazy. Yes he did play in the Pro Bowl as well and to tell you the truth I would prefer he NOT play in the game and risk injury. He has at least another 2-3 good years, but yes it will need to be addressed sooner or later...WHODEY !!!
jbx182
who is saying he's done!?!? does anybody read the posts before replying in this forum?!?! this is not a willie bashing thread. anyone who can read can see that, stop putting words in my mouth. i just want to discuss the rest of the draft. i just don't think the bengals are going to take 4 DT's and 3 TE's. and sorry for getting it wrong that willie player in the last p-bowl, but he did miss the previous one b/c of injury, and about him not partaking in contact drills during the week, right mr. fact nazi? i never said get rid of willie, right? RIGHT?!?!now about the rest of the draft, from footballs future:"The Bengals will be looking to sure-up their insurance plan for the offensive line on day 2 this year. They’ll be hoping for someone like Michigan’s Matt Lentz, Will Allen from Texas, or Aldo De La Garza from Texas A & M to be available early in the day."i for one would like to see the bengals pick up a player in case Kieft (injury) or Andrews (development) can't be a decent backup at T. i also think the bengals will draft a returner since it looks like Henry will miss time, thus forcing T Perry into an expanded role offensively, drafting either a WR of DB (like when they drafted Tab last year for KO returns). maybe WR Nance from nearby Miami? jbx182
i never, repeat, NEVER said let him go! where are you reading this?!?! please show me!!!! what is so wrong about developing a young player? why do you think they drafted Kieft last year with Andrews and Kooistra already there as back-ups?!?!and please tell me which way you would go with picks 4 thru 7! like i said, a returner (CB or WR), OT, DE, and, QB would really help out the begals depth. assuming they go DT, TE, S on the first day.
