Belisle strong as Reds blank Jays

Reds at the plate: Adam Dunn put the Reds on the scoreboard with an RBI single up the middle in the first inning. Norris Hopper collected two RBIs in the game, hitting an RBI single to center field in the fourth and driving home Chris Denorfia in the sixth with an RBI double to right field.

Blue Jays at the plate: Aaron Hill collected Toronto's only two hits in the game, with singles in the fourth and seventh innings.

Reds on the mound: Fifth-starter candidate Matt Belisle looked sensational in four shutout innings. Belisle allowed one hit and one walk and struck out three while facing one more than the minimum number of batters. David Weathers pitched one perfect inning in the fifth and Dustin Hermanson followed with a clean sixth inning and one strikeout. Victor Santos gave up one hit and struck out two in two innings.

Blue Jays on the mound: Over four innings, starter Gustavo Chacin gave up two runs (one earned) with five hits and two walks. He struck out two. Shaun Marcum pitched three innings and allowed one earned run and one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 9-2; Blue Jays 4-7.

Up next: The Reds head to Tampa on Tuesday for a 7:15 p.m. ET game against the Yankees. The Blue Jays will return to Dunedin for a 1:05 p.m. meeting with the Red Sox.
