Lions mssg boards are buzzing with the idea of following their "angry fan march" before the Lions game with a "wear orange" -- Cincy colors, obviously -- protest. Sounds like we'll almost have home field! From our f2fa.com partner...

Now i want to drive up there get some cheap tickets and see this in action. This is a very creative way to vent their frustrations for the state of their team. Kirk your right never return to the days of "Mike Brown: Step Down" again. If any team can empathize with the long suffering Lions fans its the Cincinnati fans, they have my support.

Okay, now the snippet that I caught the end of on ESPN Radio yesterday makes sense. They were talking about how Jeff Garcia's girlfriend, the reigning Playboy Playmate of the Year, had called a Detroit radio station to chastise Lion fans for planning a protest instead of attempting to create a more supportive atmosphere for the players to play in. Lion fans were said to have reacted by calling in with their own creative suggestions about how she could improve the fans mood at Lions game.

As I listened I never heard how the fans planned to protest, but the suggestions for the playmate were pretty inspiring.

BTW, isn't this the sexiest season in the NFL....ever!

Viking love boat cruise.

Panther cheerleaders making a lovenest in the toilet.

Mobile strip clubs in the Tampa Bay parking lot.

Playmates rushing to the defense of Jeff Garcia.

Chad proposes to a very tap worthy Bengal cheerleader.

What's next?

Fox also had a segment on their pregame? show on the Sexiest NFL Player. Didn't stay to watch, because, well I'm not gay.

Who's idea was this at Fox? This has to be one of the stupidest ideas for an NFL pregame show. They have this stupid thing every week. Do you really expect a bunch of guys to be sitting around the TV, watchin the FOX pregame show so they can see who moves on in the NFL's Sexiest Man contest? Fox's pregame show sucks...and their game broadcasts suck too (Chad's # of whines was pretty unprofessional last year).

Anyways, I hope they go through with the "orange out." That will be hilarious to see. I'd like to see Millen's face when he walks into the stadium and theres orange everywhere. But, it would kinda piss me off if I was a Lions' player and this happened.

Sad for the Lions players, but perhaps a wake up call to ownership...I hope for their sake the fans go through with it.

Back in the dark days of Giants football history, i.e. the '70s, the front office was a mess and little effort was being made to field a competitive team. Fans staged protests in the parking lot, making bonfires of season tickets, and even a pilot was hired to either drag a banner or skywrite over the game...can't recall what it said, but the message came through loud and clear. The next year the first steps towards a championship were taken.

More power to the Lions fans if they can pull this off...

It was a banner, famed in Giants lore: "15 years of lousy football." The difference between the Lions (and the bengals of the Nineties, for that matter) was that their owner was the late Wellington Mara, who was as miserable as the fans -- even, legend has it, going out to sympathetically speak with those season-ticket-burners. But there is always hope...just substitute the Lions in this...

I live near Detroit and listen to talk radio there all the time.

To a few points...

They already re-hired Millen earlier this year. They resigned him to a 5 year contract.

On one station (there are two) the morning show asked fans to adopt a new team. The Bengals won! The Giants were second. They plan on following the Bengals the rest of the year, including replacing their normal Lion interviews with Bengal interviews. It actually seems serious. More than once the host stated "this is no joke. You pick, and that team we will follow the rest of the year."

There are worries that the game will become a sideshow. The last game, all "Fire Millen" and any anti Lions signs were confiscated at the game. All people with anti-Lions t-shirts were told to cover them up or they would be kicked out. Anyone wearing a bag on their head would be ejected. The fans are ticked! It could get ugly.

At last nights Red Wing game the fans chanted "Fire Millen!"

It is really bad in Detroit. Way worse than anything I saw or heard in Cincinnati during the down years. Of course this is a team with one playoff win in 40 years.

I almost forgot the billboard idea that is in one thread. That is the other station (WDFN). The billboard is visible from Ford Field.

WXYT, the other station, is the morning show a refered to. I'll see if I can find something there. It should be crazy for the game. If you have never been to Ford Field, it is pretty nice. Not too far, and I bet tickets will be easy to get. Stop on up.

AP reports Lions fan Duncan DeBruin rolled up both pant legs during a radio appearance at a restaurant to show off scapes and dings on his legs he said were suffered during his walk on the wild side Sunday at Ford Field. DeBruin, 25, of Wayne, was the person shown during the Lions telecast running from section to section, carrying a "Fire Millen" sign, referring to team president Matt Millen. DeBruin was tackled by security officers, escorted from the stadium and told he could not return. DeBruin said he carried the sign to have fun. But a day later he still believed in the message. "Anyone who has a 20-56 record and is in charge of one of the worst franchises in all of the NFL should be fired," he said. "You have expansion teams competing better than the Lions, and we have been forced to place blame on the coach (Steve Mariucci) and the quarterback (Joey Harrington). He can only coach the players he was given, and the players can only play with the players around them. Who put them in place? Matt Millen. What do you have to do to get a job like that?" DeBruin thought he was banned from Ford Field for life, but Matt Barnhart, the Lions' director of media relations, said his expulsion was for the remainder of the 21-16 loss to Minnesota. DeBruin is welcome to return as long as he follows stadium guidelines. "This fat security guy told me I was pretty much done from ever coming back to Ford Field again," DeBruin said. "He had a shirt and tie and looked pretty official, so I figured I was done." The Lions said DeBruin violated two stadium rules. Ford Field guidelines say fans are not allowed to bring banners or signs into the stadium. The Lions also said DeBruin's game of hide-and-seek was a "security violation," and they feared someone could get injured. Most fans seemed to enjoy DeBruin's run Sunday, and some said they were upset he was escorted from the field. A number of fans vented to local talk shows and on Web sites Monday, saying they plan on some form of protest for the last home game, Dec. 18 against Cincinnati. Some people sold paper bags for $1 during the Vikings game, but most were taken away. Some fans were also kicked out of the game for throwing Lions T-shirts back on the field after they were tossed into the crowd from the field. Fans reported that security confiscated several signs. One man with a pro-Lions message painted on his chest was told to put his shirt back on.

It's been fun around here. Those stories are all true. It could get ugly. We shall see. Hopefully the Bengals take full advantage.

BTW...here is the quote on one of the morning shows website...

ON WEDNESDAY'S SHOW, WE GAVE CALLERS A CHANCE TO DUMP OUR WOEFUL DETROIT LIONS AND ADOPT A BRAND NEW TEAM TO CHEER FOR. THE CALLERS OVERWHELMING CHOSE THE CINCINNATI BENGALS AS OUR NEW NFL TEAM.

Nice site you got here. As a Lions Fan I must admit, we are upset. Millen has taken a 9-7 team (that lucked into the playoffs a few times) into the garbage you see on the field now. Firing Mooch was a huge mistake, not that I think Mooch's play calling was great, but it removed his scapegoat. Now the attention has been focused on Millen. Millen hasn't even had a 500 team and don't get me started on his drafts.

Normally the fans at Ford Field aren't very rowdy, nothing like the Silverdome days, but last weekend was different.

If the Lions lose to GB this Sunday night (haven't won there in like 14 years), the Bengals game could very interesting.

I'm thinking of getting tickets, wearing my orange and laughing at Johnson's TD celebration. We believe the Orange-Out may just embarrass Ford enough to make a change.

Millen did receive a 5 year extension on his contract this summer, but there has been mixed reports if it is guaranteed or not. It has also been reported that he said he asked, he would leave w/o seeking any additional money.

Good luck this weekend, the Bengals are my favorite AFC team and it is nice to see them finally suceeding. I still love the Icky shuffle.

I've always liked the Lions too, especially the uniforms. They'll be back in contention soon enouhg, htey have too much talent not to be. As soon as Millen goes down, they will improve.

I love to see the fanbase grow, but it saddens me it must happen this way... Lions fans need to have more confidence! :(

I applaud them. They're only doing what Bengals fans did for years. I can remember very clearly rooting for the Bengals to lose in late 2002. Supporting a team through tough times is one thing, but supporting a team when management methodically brings those tough times dwn on itself is quite another. Best of luck to them.
