so you can walk to where Huber went to HS :-)

some questions since I dont get down there too often anymore - Is Keegans still in business?    How about the Beacon Grocery/Deli?

I really miss two places that were in "downtown" Mt Washington long ago: Hardees (Walgreens is there now) and Pizzaville (now a skateboard shop)

My son was talking about him being in Canes the other day.
I'm not on social media of any kind, but he was telling me it hit his "Insta" which I'm pretty sure is Instagram.

Pretty cool that Chase did that, but with Mixon living over this way we see those guys out and about periodically.
Mixon would always come to the local high school football games.  Anderson and Turpin...

I'm a little further up Birney from Beechmont where McNicholas High School is, but I could do that walk.  I went there for HS as well.

Not familiar with Keagan's, but think the Beacon Grocery/Deli closed down.

By the way, I would send this via PM, but it says I can't send you one.

  • 4 weeks later...

Here's my first post-FA attempt. CB did NOT fall right. I really hope we can sign another one in FA to take that perceived need off the table. There are SO few 3 techs. I reached a hair on the PFF board in round 2 for one of them - although TDN has Winfrey almost first round value on their board...

PFF draft engine ( I turned down trading back a few times):

Round 1 (pick 31) - Jermaine Johnson II, Edge, FSU

Round 2  (pick 63) - Perrion Winfrey, IDL, Oklahoma

Round 3 (pick 95) - Max Mitchell, T, Louisiana

Round 4 (pick 136) - Jelani Woods, TE, Virginia

Round 5 (pick 174) - Tyquan Thornton, WR, Baylor

Round 6 (pick 209) - Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State

Round 7 (pick 226) - Doug Kremer, C, Illinois

Round 7 (pick 252) - Josh Thompson, CB, Texas

The Draft Network draft engine (they do not have special teams loaded into theirs...)

Round 1 (pick 31) -  DeMarvin Leal, IDL, Texas aTm

Round 2  (pick 63) -  Dylan Parham, IOL, Memphis

Round 3 (pick 95) -  Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas aTm

Round 4 (pick 136) -  Coby Bryant, CB Cincinnati

Round 5 (pick 174) -  Reed Blankenship, S, Middle Tennessee State

Round 6 (pick 209) -  Michael Woods II, WR, Oklahoma

Round 7 (pick 226) -  Esezi Otomewo, Edge/IDL, Minnesota

Round 7 (pick 252) -  Mike Harley, WR, Miami (Fla)

I like seeing which players people are selecting, given the situation.
I can like their picks or dislike their picks and it doesn't matter one bit.

I like the Leal, Bryant, Jelani Woods, Winfrey, Thornton and Araiza picks.

Maybe I hear something I haven't yet considered for the team.

Thanks for posting Mem.  Maybe I give that a shot as well.

I don't know the players well, so my simulator picks are essentially "highest rated at position of need given PFF's value assessment":

1 - Jalen Pitre, CB
2 - Brian Asamoah, LB
3 - Kellen Diesch, T
4 - Neil Ferrell Jr., DL
5 - Cam Jurgens, IOL
6 - Matt Araiza, P
6 - Tre Turner, WR
7 - Charleston Rambo, WR

Kiper's new mock:

Quote

31. Cincinnati Bengals

Travis Jones, DT, Connecticut

The Bengals have significantly retooled their offensive line this offseason, adding four new starters in free agency. That takes some of the pressure off Joe Burrow (literally) in Year 3, as he was battered in his first two seasons. The Super Bowl runners-up can now afford to fill a different need with this pick, and I see Jones as a replacement for Larry Ogunjobi, who had a great 2021 season.

Jones is a 325-pound nose tackle with extremely long arms who can controls gaps with his strength. He was impressive at the Senior Bowl in January, boosting his stock into the top 50 picks. He could make sense for a Bengals team that is poised to compete for another AFC North title.

The Draft Network:  I love how this one turned out, but as Mem mentioned, no ST players are involved.

1. Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma
2. Nick Cross, S, Maryland
3. Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin
4. Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati
5. Dare Rosenthal, OT, Kentucky
6. Tyquan Thornton, WR, Baylor
7. Jermaine Waller, CB, Virginia Tech
7. Zonovan Knight, RB, South Carolina

PFF Mock Draft:  The rankings are much different, but I like how this one shook out as well.

1. Kenyon Green, OG, Texas A&M
2. Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma
3. Derion Kendrick, CB, Georgia
4. Jelani Woods, TE, Virginia
5. Tyquan Thornton, WR, Baylor
6. Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State
7. Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB, USC
7. Dare Rosenthal, OT, Kentucky

Pro Football Network:  **TRADE**  #31 overall to Colts for #36 and an additional 3rd, #81

2. Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
2. Phidarian Mathis, DT, Alabama
3. John Metchie, WR, Alabama
3. Coby Bryant, CB, Cincinnati
4. Nick Cross, S, Maryland
5. Marcus Jones, CB, Houston
6. Matt Araiza, P, San Diego State
7. Jack Sanborn, LB, Wisconsin
7. Jalen Nailor, WR, Michigan State

I like how most of those turned out, but would like to mesh them all together for my own wants.
If I'm picking players close to where they were available above, The ArmyBengal Mock Draft would look like this:

1. Perrion Winfrey, DT
2. Leo Chenal, LB
3. Coby Bryant, CB
4. Nick Cross, S
5. Tyquan Thornton, WR
6. Matt Araiza, P
7. Dare Rosenthal, OT
7. Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB

I just might shit myself if that were to come to be.
Not a single player in that mock I don't like and would help the team with starters and depth.

Did four rounds via TDN today.

1. Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn State. Say hello to Jesse Bates’ replacement in 2023.

2. Josh Paschal, edge, KY. Versatile guy who can play all across the line.

3. Marcus Jones, CB, Houston. Home run threat on every return.

4. Akayleb Evans, CB, Missouri. High character high motor, needs polish.

we dont need a backup NT at pick 31

this is a gawdaful pick

there's a long discussion of that on twitter on Zim's feed - I have been on it - apparently a definite belief that he is NOT just a nose but projects very well to 3T or even 1T.

So Jeremiah has Linderbaum falling to us at 31

I dont understand, with there being no way in fucking hell his agent (for one) hasnt told him he needs to bulk up a bit for the NFL, why he was still under 300 at the combine

I am far more concerned about his lack of mass - and his apparent lack of interest/effort in adding some - than his "historically" short arms

https://www.si.com/nfl/bengals/gm-report/tyler-linderbaum-size-concerns-grow-following-measurements-nfl-combine

If we draft him, I'll have to start a gofundme to pay for daily delivery of a sack of Maid-Rites (its an Iowa thing) to his house every day.

Linderbaum is starting to strike me as that archetypal player that we all, for months, expect to be gone when we pick -- and then when he ends up being there, the Bengals pass on him (see: Tevin Jenkins for a recent example). I'm not saying this is "bad", just a vibe.

I fondly remember Teven was a Mem favorite for our r2 pick last year

I figured it was 50/50 he'd be available and was somewhat shocked when we passed on him.

It looks like he had an underwhelming rookie year, not unlike Carman

In passing on Teven with the trade-down, we ended up with Carman, Shelvin, and D'Ante

None of these three have shown much just yet, but we'll see.  I haven't given up on Carman, not at all, there were indeed flashes - but I have higher hopes for D'Ante, who should hopefully be getting second team snaps at OLT all offseason.

I think the Bengals will want more immediate return from #31. A Linderbaum pick means that either Linderbaum himself or Carman (or I suppose Karras) ends up a backup when the season opens, which from a team-building perspective might strike them as redundant.

I’m all about a kick/punt returner.

Specifically Marcus Jones, CB, Houston

Much like I’m interested in the punter Araiza.

Both have the skills to flip field position quickly.
Next to o-line improvement, those are two aspects that could also drastically improve this team.
