Draft Pick Watch

Of course a proactive and aggressive approach to Free Agency could compliment the draft and open up/allow many draft options to benefit the team.

However, we all know too well that the Bengals just don't do business that way

What did Geoff Hobson ever do to you?    How could you post this nonsense?   They are only 46 mil under the cap, the Bengals will be lucky to have enough cap room to draft.

no thanks. pass on Fournette. Not interested in a player who won't compete and finish his season, ie make it to all the interviews.

Yeah but if you are CB that's shot up a strip club, or got suspended for jumping off a balcony to avoid domestic dispute charges, or suspended for academic fraud you are more than welcome.

Quite understandable position.  Do dumb stuff that threatens your career, all is forgiven.   Don't you dare skip a meaningless bowl game to protect your NFL career.

You have a habit of putting words in people's mouth, and drawing inferences where you like.

Go find where I've defended or justified *one* bad act by a player or prospect. I've been part of this forum since 2003, there's years of posts to research.

Have fun.

Nah, not going to do any crazy searches or half ass message board position papers.     No room for knee jerk character judgements on a draft board.

You and I both know that IF the Bengals draft him and he justifies his lofty draft expectations you aren't going to give two shits about that bowl game.

All he is doing is protecting millions he assuredly already earned.   IF you think skipping a bowl game when he's more than likely earned a top 10 grade on the heals of what happened to the ND linebacker and a few others like Lattimore is a serious  red flag/warning about his desire to play football, fine.

If you are unwilling to go back up your bullshit inferences, then you are just a douche bag troll. Trolls don't last long on this forum. The Mods and Admins don't suffer Trolls very well.

Lattimore wasn't playing in a bowl game. Top prospects all have insurance, provided by their school to offset against injuries. Injuries could occur at any point in the season. To bail now is a legit red flag, to me. Mike Lombardi claimed he's probably off at least half the teams boards due to this.

I dislike the precedent. I am a football coach (in my little corner of the world), coaching 12-13 yr old young men, preparing them for Trinity League HS teams, and the psychology of it is a bad signal. I view it as akin to quitting on your team. Until the season is over, he's a member of that team. He's quitting on his teammates and that's not something to condone or reward.

Strictly as a player potential view, I'd prefer not pursue Fournette. He's going to take too much damage, and his size/speed advantage will disappear on an NFL field. Zeke Elliott, LeSean McCoy, Demarco Murray, Jay adjayi, David Johnson, let Bell. Those are the type backs that should be on the Bengals board, and they are out there. Just cuz I saw it, the kid Wales from W. Kentucky looked really good in the vaunted Boca Raton bowl v Memphis. Had nearly 300 total yards, over 7 ypc.

I see Fournette like the other big backs, Derrick Henry, Carlos Hyde, Brandon Jacobs, legarrett Blount. Grinders who serve a narrow, specific role. None of that is worth a top 10 pick.

I don't really care about your viewpoint anymore.  This is like the 3rd time you've blown up at me over a differing opinion.   Fine.

When you try to insult with your garbage inference, that I'm OK with Bengals bringing in guys with red flags, criminal behavior, that's the issue. If you don't that understand that, then find another forum.

Differing opinions are great. I enjoy the football discussion, you add a lot to the forum. just shelve the trolling. Pretty simple.

Differing opinions are part of any board, they should be encouraged, loved, stroked, wait, what ??

Anyway, for any poster here, just agree to disagree without being a dick.
I'm not pointing fingers, just saying.  There's no need to respond to my post either, I'd hate for someone to disagree.

When feeling the need to be an ass in your response, just ask yourself one question...
"Do you like porn" ??  That should at least put a smile on your face.

Moving on now...

Myles Garrett.  Yes, I've mentioned him already.
THIS is my player to pimp for the 2017 draft.

Unfortunately, he more than likely won't be there when we pick.
The Browns are said to be very big on him at the top of the draft.

Philly's win Thursday moves the Bengals temporarily to 9. If you care about draft position, this week you're rooting for:

Arizona over Seattle (ha ha)

SD over Cleveland

NYJ over NE (fat chance)

Tennessee over Jacksonville

Carolina over Atlanta and NO over Tampa would be nice too, especially if Cincy wins.

The rest of the week's games won't have any impact on the top of the draft as all the games left feature teams that are actually good this year. Bengals are still at 8 after yesterday. They can't climb any higher than 7 since all the teams at 1-6 have 11 or mor losses. Worst the Bengals can have is 10.5 (counting the tie as half a loss). SD is at 7. They finish the season against the Chiefs, so unless KC is resting guys they will probably stay at 7. And maybe even if the Chiefs are, SD just lost to Cleveland after all.

The furthest they can fall now is 11. Best way to make sure that doesn't happen (aside from Cincy losing its last game) is wins by the Panthers, Eagles and Cards.
