With McCarron around that gives them leverage and the Dalton deal was not a market deal when it was signed. It was a team friendly, prove yourself deal and the Dalton camp could push to get some of the money tied to team incentives to be given to him in salary or bonus. They need a place to play, and they need the public to back them, to support them. That they have chosen this moment in time to try to force a high draft pick to accept terms no one in his slot in the previous several years have accepted? Idiotic. It's why the Chargers are the Chargers. They shop the franchise around every few years to other cities, basically giving the finger to their fan base. The one chance they have to demonstrate a commitment to winning - and they decide it's time to reset the terms for the 3rd pick in the draft . Amazing. On the other hand, the very kind of thinking that leads Spanos and his supporters to think they're handling this correctly - it leads to teams that SHOULD really care about top 3 draft slot terms, because they'll be picking there an awful lot. Healthy players = unemployment for him. Hocker has been hurt from my understanding, which sucks that there was no true position battle. The rest are no brainers, but I hope to see Peters make it back to the practice squad. Why ?? He's a local Mount Saint Joseph University product. The fact he's here at all is quite amazing because playing teams like Transylvania, Defiance, Hanover, and Bluffton isn't exactly top competition.
