STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS: Blessed with prototypical traits for today's tackle. Possesses broad shoulders, a trim middle and excellent first-step quickness and balance. He looks the part of a future NFL Pro Bowler with his easy knee bend and lateral agility. Ogbuehi has vines for arms and strong hands to latch and control, as well as the core flexibility to anchor.

He is light on his feet and can adjust in space when run blocking at the second level and, because of his rare combination of agility and length, is one of those few tackles capable of recovering if initially beaten off the snap.

Ogbuehi isn't just athletic; he's powerful, demonstrating the strength to simply drive defenders off the ball. He has started at guard as well as right tackle already and if he excels on the blind side in 2014 as expected, Ogbuehi's experience should provide his future NFL team plenty of flexibility.

WEAKNESSES: Upper-body technique hasn't improved, with inconsistent hand placement and a streaky punch, leaving him off-balance and allowing rushers to attack his breastplate.

Some passivity to his game, preferring to "catch" rather than control opponents. By over-setting on his initial kick-slide, he leaves his chest plate open to power rushes and will occasionally lean into defenders rather than keeping his feet shuffling.

Has a tendency to get too high off the snap when drive blocking, which leaves him vulnerable to swim moves over the top.

Ogbuehi is not only coming off a torn ACL injury that will not be healed before the draft, he has missed five games over his career with injury, sustaining an ankle injury in 2011 that caused him to miss three games and an undisclosed injury in 2013 (reportedly to his groin) that forced him out against Vanderbilt and UTEP. His overall effort level has been questioned in 2014, as if he doesn't want to get hurt while protecting his draft value.

Overview

In 2014, named third-team AP All-American and first-team All-SEC despite allowing seven sacks. Started all 13 games for the Aggies, including 11 at left tackle and two at right tackle. Tore his ACL in the bowl game against West Virginia. Will take advantage of insurance policy paid for by Texas A&M that protects him against injury-related slip of his draft stock. In 2013, started all 13 games at right tackle, taking over for Jake Matthews who moved to the left tackle spot. In 2012, started 13 games at right guard for offensive line that protected and cleared the way for Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel. In 2011, played in 10 games as redshirt freshman, missing three due to an ankle injury. Two-time all-state selection at Allen High School (Texas) and an Army All-American.

Analysis

Strengths

Gifted athlete with foot quickness and ability to move easily in space. Has feet to slide and meet speed rushers. Easy weight shift to recover against counter moves. Is a second-level winner. Gets on top of linebackers quickly and can adjust in space to moving targets. Played in warp-speed offense and is well-conditioned. Keeps feet moving through contact on zone plays and sustains blocks until he wins. On gap plays, works to secure inside shoulder and gets defenders turned. Has played both tackle spots and right guard. Has matched up against premier college defensive linemen.

Weaknesses

Functional power and anchor are legitimate concerns. Technique flaws make pass protection harder than it has to be. Football leverage isn't as good as expected. Doesn't play with enough bend at impact. His punch in pass pro can be woefully mistimed and he plays with wide hands and some wasted motion in setup. Base tends to narrow when pass rush gets to his high side. Not a powerful tackle and won't generate much push as in-line blocker. Was one of the SEC leaders in sacks allowed in 2014. Tore his ACL in Aggies' bowl game, and won't be able to go through a full pre-draft workout for NFL personnel men.

Bottom Line

NFL evaluators are very worried about Ogbuehi's core strength and ability to anchor in pass protection, but some of his anchor issues could be improved with technique work -- especially where his hands are concerned. He should be a plus run blocker, especially on stretch plays, but needs to add strength and work on technique if he is to reach his play potential. Ogbuehi's bowl-game injury could hurt his draft standing, but his traits and potential might be able to keep him in the first round.

Player Overview

Whereas Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews were exceptionally highly regarded prospects dating back to their prep days, Ogbeuhi chose the Aggies over just a handful of other offers and redshirted in 2009.

He earned the starting job at right guard a year later but suffered an ankle injury in his first game (Arkansas) and missed the next three contests, ultimately playing in 10 games and starting six.

Noticeably stronger, Ogbeuhi (pronounced ah-BOO-hee) took his game to another level in 2012, forming a devastating right side of the offensive line with Matthews. With Matthews flipping to the left side to take over for Joeckel, the Aggies moved Ogbeuhi to the outside in 2013.

The Aggies have become somewhat of an offensive tackle factory. Although not yet a household name, Ogbuehi could be the third first round offensive tackle out of Texas A&M the past three years. Ogbuehi almost certainly would have earned a top 10 selection in the 2014 draft had he entered. Having already graduated, he strongly considered doing so and only elected to return to College Station when the Aggies took advantage of a new rule by paying more than $50,000 for an insurance policy to protect against an injury-related slip in his draft stock.

In the long run, his time at guard could serve him well, as he'll be more accustomed to the physicality of close quarters -- something that many rookie offensive tackles struggle with in their first year in the NFL. However, he's going through the draft process recovering from an ACL tear that will keep him out of team activities into at least August and possibly all of his rookie training camp.

Ranked by CBS sports as the 45th best player and 7th best OT.

I think he's a little better than that. But he might not even be good depth this year because of injury. Given who else was on the board it's very hard to justify this.

Message tonight is to Whitworth. He may think he can play a few more years. The Bengals don't.

Speculation that he goes on PUP to start the year.

Guess the bengals figure they are good enough they don't need any draft picks help

Yeah, they are so good.. "Can't win a playoff game" good. Brilliant.

Alexander tampering with the grown up coaches input again. Cripes.
