After Thoughts Ravens game 1#

Like I said, MB does a good job of always having a solid O'line.

Yeah, they were "real solid" all through the 90's, particularly the group that regularly escorted the passhrushers to Klingler, and of course last year's group was "real solid" too, especially at the "matador" position.

Ocho Cinco... His got ALL you haters out there shutting the f**kK up-O. He's my boy I don't care what any of you say. 85 is the real deal.

Yeah that drive killing fumble was awesome, dude. What a fine, fine player he is

MB is genius.

...at stealing taxpayer money, absolutely. Football? Not so much.

Why is COFFMAN not in there on 3rd and long or other passing plays? There is no answer for that. THEY HAVE TO GET COFFMAN in the game!! Have to!

Not that someone like you would understand, but see, the rules dont allow for all 53 players to be dressed on Sunday....8 have to be placed on an inactive list. Coffman was on the inactive list. So he could not come out and play on "3rd and long or other passing plays"....or any plays for that matter. If he isn't ready, he isnt ready. He is a rookie, and he started behind because of his injury. You might want to write this on a piece of paper and pin it to your shirt so you can remember.

They have absolutely gelled as a team. No matter what Brad St. Louis does snapping the ball, they say f**k it and win anyway. No matter Mike Zimmer loses his wife Vikki days before the game, they win anyway. No matter membengal keeps starting game threads and remarking the impossibility of continued last second wins, they win anyway!

Aaron my man. You walk point again next week! :bengal:

Tell me you didn't mean how this appears?

The team jells and I'm happy about it? Yeah. I meant that. Brad St. Louis keeps screwing up, yet the Bengals win? Yeah. I meant that. Our defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer loses his wife, yet finds a way to go to work and get a win in spite of it which brings me joy? Yeah. I meant that too.

If I you have any other problems in your reading comprehension, I'd be more than happy to help you out.

Just one other random thought on the game.

How did Morgan Trent not tuch the return man. I dont think he could physichally get any closer. Great job avoiding the penalty.

Emblematic of the new professionalism and game awareness that this team exhibits.

I have to give props to CJ for walking away from the Lewis after the cheap shot and not drawing the return penalty.

Bengals are 8-9 on Fourth Down Conversions. That is a stat that show what kind of team this is.

I think you also have to give Chad credit for making a play and keeping that deep ball from being picked off. That was a team, hustle play.

I keep reading, on various fora, neutral and steeler and raven boards alike that they're not convinced and we won by 3 points only, they each gave the game away etc.

Bulls**t. I smell palpable fear from them. They know that so far this isn't the same old Bengals, glares at Whines Hard. In fact, they are just the opposite. When the game is on the line, when it all matters, these guys come alive. Not just once but for 5 games in a row. That isn't an anomaly, that is a trend. Scarier still for them is that they know our offense isn't performing at anything above 50%. They are genuinely worried right now.

That and they aren't used to being hit so hard they blow snot bubbles by a Bengals D.

You need to f**king chill out! Quit being so damn defensive when someone asks you an honest question! You worded it perfectly the second time, it just didn't sound right to me the way you said it the first time!

I've been playing catch up today with all the threads.

You see, yesterday was ArmyBengal Jr's. 3rd birthday. We went out and about for most of the morning and into the afternoon. I thought I would be back, but we were having fun and I missed the whole first half and the beginning of the 2nd. We did however, wear our jerseys out for the day. We had a great day together and it was all topped off with another last minute win by the Bengals.

All I have seen are highlights from the first half so far, so I don't have much to comment on from that.

Chad's fumble was just sloppy from what I saw on the highlight reel, but he's still doing very well so yes Agreen, I'm happy for the most part.

Benson is an absolute beast.

Carson was great at the end again, but wish he would stop staring down receivers.

The defense will continue to keep us in games, but that Ray Rice TD, was laziness on the players part thinking the play was over. Play to the whistle.

St. Louis ?? The team needs to stop trying to polish that turd and flush it already...

Henry's leg must still be hurting, as I've never seen him run down from behind like that.

Leonard covering up the botched snap on the final drive was heads up and saved that drive.

I'm sure there's more, but will finish by saying I hope the team remains focused as the Texans can make plays on offense. I don't think anyone is afraid of the Bengals and don't think they should be, but will say that I still don't think the Bengals are getting much respect for doing what they have to this point.

Watching the locker room celebrate the win, giving Zimmer the game ball and listening to what Zimmer had to say brought a tear to my eye.

Yes, I can admit that and good for him and his family...

Clarification: By the top I meant the media hype wave that will be shifting in your direction. Despite our success, the last few weeks were the first time the Ravens were media darlings, and solely b/c we were putting up points. I didn't mean the top of the division. You're not there yet. A three way tie is not the top (and I don't mean records, you know what I mean). When the day comes that Ravens and Steelers fans write off two games a year as likely losses to the Bengals, then you are on the top.

Despite my obvious loyalties, I consider myself an objective analyst of the game. The reason Ravens fans are so annoyed/angry is b/c our team got outcoached yesterday. That is the first time in the Harbs era I have seen that. Our offense didn't have an answer to what your defense was doing. That doesn't take credit away from your D, they got the job done. But the offense on the field yesterday was different from the previous few weeks. Even against the Pats we were more aggressive and more unpredictable. I have no idea what Cam was thinking yesterday. The rematch will be very telling.

Question: Have you guys been running this much unbalanced line on offense all year? The guy sitting behind me kept wondering why the right side of your offensive line was pushing our D around, and I didn't feel like explaining that there is an extra offensive tackle over there (and sometimes even a couple of tight ends). It was a new wrinkle I hadn't seen before and I'm curious if it was put in for the Raven's sake or is new this year generally.

Lastly, your recent wins have proved one thing and only one thing: The Bengals have the character and determination of a team that can be a winner. I know for you cats that is getting somewhere. Everything else I'm not quite sold on yet. You can't live on the last second come back (all current evidence aside).

I wish you terrible luck in your upcoming games (health aside) and I'll be back for the rematch.

P.S. I hate all of you, soooooooo much <Homer Simpson Voice>

No, actually we're on the top when we're the first team listed in the standings, but nice try.

Hey, you worry about what other fans think, I'll take the wins. Of which you currently have fewer than us. If it means that other teams continue to overlook us, I'm fine with that.

DC, was that a "throwback" post from 2005? Sounds familiar. Just a couple years old.

Hey Arizona, what happened to the whole, "whatever your weakness is, we'll attack it" theme ??

Just kidding and taking the obvious jab since I can...

Anyway, the o-line has been running that since week #1 and I agree that it's odd the Ravens weren't prepared for it.

See you guys in a few weeks !!!

Damn right. 2005 being the last time we had sole possession of 1st place, if I'm not mistaken.

I'd actually rather we were getting less attention right now. Right now, we have El Ocho's head in a good place, and about the only thing that could screw it up is more cameras in his face.

I had forgotten that you had one right before I did. My youngest will be 3 in a couple of weeks, I hope his B-day goes as well as your sons did. Wont be a Bengals win on Nov. 3rd though.

Less words, more boobs. Seriously...I'm disappointed in you. Not one celebratory post this season? It's like growing up and finding out that your parents are only human after all. sadwalk.gif
