I've been pimping the idea of replacing Larson for two years. The idea didn't get much support last year because most people felt Larson would bounce back. Instead, he got even worse.

You simply can't have a guy like Larson on your roster when your head coach places a priority on field position.

Love this pick. Love it.

I cannot ever recall being this happy about a draft

Amen.

Whoever is eventually arrested for kidnapping SoP, after viewing this draft, there would not be a jury in Hamilton Co. that would convict them.

Give Mikey another Macallan and one of the white pills. This is too good for him to screw it up now.

Every pick so far fills a need and will see significant time on the field from day 1. Andre and Rey start from day 1, Johnson becomes our pass rushing specialist at worst and a starter at best (move Odom to a 3rd down rusher), Chase will be on the field on most passing plays and Luigs and Huber will start right away. I can see most if not all of these guys starting some time in the near future.

I dont like this pick for a whole bunch of reasons.

- He was the 7 the best P in the nation

- You could have someone that would have made a much better contribution

- Most teams do not even draft kickers and punters because so many times they they loose it mentaly and just cant do it in the pros - the Bengals have had this happen to them.

- there is an old saying that when you draft a P or K you are drafting them for another team.

- With this guy he has the added pressure of having played at U Cincinnatti.

Disagree. If he repeats what he did in college, he could very well be a Pro Bowl Punter for some time. His ranking and #'s don't tell the whole story, with punters they never do. He was considered the best P in the draft, somewhat arguable, but those who watched him every week for two years, know what they're getting. Not only does he hit deep punts with lots of hang time, he's very accurate and is very good at angling kicks out of bounds inside the 20. Can't underestimate field position and how it impacts the outcome of games, ecspecially in the defensive minded AFC North.

He's exactly the type of kicker you spend a pick on - because you won't get him in FA. Safe 5th round pick at a position of great need. That he's a local favorite is just a big plus.

If UC did not have Kevin Huber, they wouldn't have made the orange bowl. Best "team" punter in the NCAA Div 1.

He constantly sacrificed average for directional punting, VERY low in touchbacks, and was actually a weapon for Brian Kelly. With the punt returners ion this league, he's what your special teams coach needs - plus he;s performed well in frigid and windy conditions.

I dont think I am the only one who thinks this, but I believe you hate almost every pick we have made.

Do you watch football? Watch the tape on these guys and you'll see that they are all steals.

Actually it's seemed like he's been pretty high on the draft towards 3rd-4th round when things started coming togather nicely...I could be mistaken lol but hey you can't win em all over.......

PS,I know alot of people were unhappy with the Maualuga pick on FFB because we passed E.Brown, until we drafted M.Johnson which made them love the maualuga pick

This guy will be the punter next year and one of the better ones in the league for the next 10+ seasons. How can anyone be upset about spending a 5th rounder on an upgrade for Larsony? He wouldn't have been there at in the 6th round, without a doubt. With field position as valuable as it is in the AFC North, he might contribute more than any player we've picked so far in '09.

ANOTHER GREAT PICK!

Very very very pleased with this pick.

In fact, I say we use the rest of our picks to upgrade the cheer squad. I'm that satisfied with what we've got from the first 5 rounds, and some of the cheerleaders are in dire need of an upgrade.

That and unsatisfied with some of our past cheerleaders

To all of you guys I am not saying that he is a bad Punter - I am saying that I would have prefered that they use the pick get a CB, RB, DE, or ( I cant believe Im saying this )even a WR

I can remember us drafting a few Punters that were head cases

Also, the stuff that I have seen had him rated the #3 Punter

The point is that I think we could have had him in a later round and picked someone like a CB, RB ect..

I am sure that you guys have seen more U. C. games than I have, and you know how good he is - I have seen too many P's flop to take one that high when they have not adressed some needs and it looks like they have just used a 5th round pick on a 5th round pick on a few yards more in punting average.

Seriously? I know dick all about this kid, but Larson's inability to land the ball within the 15 from the 50 absolutely slayed me. Dude was a human touchback machine. Does this guy get backspin on his kick, or how does he prevent the touchbacks?

Really, if we get a guy who can drop the ball on the 5 with regularity, that is *well worth* a 5th round pick. Count me among those who thinks that a great punter makes far more of a difference in a game than yet another half-ass "skill" position player who'll be gone by September.

Not to be an Ohio State homer... but Tressel has said that the punt is the most important play in football. Seems like if you can get a high quality guy in the draft you do it.

That said... my concerns with Huber involve his delivery. I've read that he gets his punts off slowly... which might not translate well to the NFL. He didn't have any punts blocked in college though, so I'm not terribly worried. I do wish he had some skill as a KO specialist to add value to the pick... but he's a punter... so that's what you get.

May not be a KO specialist but he does have experience holding which is a perk...Tomy Romo has taught us why...
