We are going to be starting the live draft today. Here is a list of who is picking for each team and a list showing the draft order. For the last 4 slots where the teams are still playing, I will just list them in order of worst record to best on the teams left.

There are a few rules. First each person that picks for a team they need to add an explanation for their pick. I want this to be as close to a real draft as possible and to do so we can't have people just picking people because they like the college they played for or whatever (Unless you are picking for the Lions, who's real GM doesn't have any reason for his picks ) . Secondly, we will have a separate thread for commenting on people's draft picks so that the mock isn't jobbled up. The third rule is that we are not doing any trades. Since in real life most trades involve later round draft picks, and we are only drafting the first two, this wouldn't be beneficial. TDB already agreed to pin both the mock draft thread and the comment thread. Because New England gets two picks and Seattle doesn't get a pick at all, I will have the TDB draft New England's first pick which was Seattle's original pick.

1. Oakland selects- Jamarcus Russell, QB LSU.

Al Davis could go WR here because Porter and Moss likely won't be back next season, but realizing he made a mistake last year by not taking Leinart, he takes his QB of the future. Russell is a huge player with a great arm. Davis loves him and won't pass on him.

2. Detroit selects - Brady Quinn, QB Notre Dame

The Lions give serious thought to Joe Thomas, but can't resist taking Quinn to groom behind Kitna for the future. Joey Harrington parallels aside, he's the pick.

3. Cleveland selects Joe Thomas, Lt Wisconsin

Do I really need to explain this one? The Browns line has been terrible since 1999, it is time to fix this issue, and who better to do it with than the premeir tackle in this draft.

I will add, I would be estatic if this happened in real life!

4. Tampa Bay selects Calvin Johnson-WR Georgia Tech

Mike Clayton has regressed since his rookie year and is more of a possession type WR. Gallaway is getting old and has lost a couple steps. Johnson is not only the best WR in the draft but the best player period. This pick is a no brainer.

5. Arizona selects Alan Branch - DT Michigan

Even though OT, LB, and DB are more pressing needs, with Thomas gone and no other tackle prospect worth the reach Branch is the pick simply b/c he is the best defensive talent available. Maybe his play will make the entire defense better vs. pass and run.

6. Washington Redskins select- Jamaal Anderson- DE Arkansas

Washington has pieces on offense in place and have settled on Jason Campbell as the QB of the future. The defense has guys in the secondary, though some are aging, but the D-Line and the LBs are horrible. Jamaal Anderson brings a presence to put opposite the 'Skins best D-Lineman in Andre Carter.

8. Houston selects- Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma

Assuming the clock has run out on the Vikings, Houston makes a pick that helps ease the stress of last years draft. Instead of passing on a great talent at RB (R. Bush) and a top local product (V. Young) the Texans get both at a position of need considering Domanick Williams' injury and their unspectacular backups.

7. Minnesota selects Dwayne Jarret, WR USC

Minnesota might try and trade up and grab Calvin Johnson. Cleveland might be interested because they could pick up an extra 2nd and 4th round pick and still get Adrian Peterson. Dwayne Jarret will be the next best thing, he is tall, athletic and a smooth route runner. If Jarret could add 10 to 20 pounds, he could be a elite WR as well. Jarret is really cocky and Minnesota might shy away because of the whole Moss situation but he is too good to pass on.

Cam Cameron, the new coach of the Miami Dolphins, picks Ohio State WR Ted Ginn, Jr.

This pick will allow Miami to stretch the field and give a deep target for the strong armed Daunte Culpepper. Ginn has remarkable speed with times around 4.3 for the 40 and is considered a world class hurdler.

#10 Atlanta selects L. Landry, Safety LSU

Atlanta may have been tempted to reach for a WR, but there is definitely nothing left on the board to tempt.

#11 San Fransico 49ers select Gaines Adams - DE Clemson

Although I was looking at Ginn with this pick due to the lack of playmakers on the offense except Gore, I am forced to go defense and draft a guy to groom behind Young. Young isn't exactly his namesake, and the rest of the line is blue collar with a lack of any game changers. Hopefully after a year of tutelage from Young and some NFL conditioning, Adams can be a force in the NFL.

12. Bills: Marshawn Lynch RB

Marv tells Willis if he likes Toronto so much he can go play in the CFL.

13. Rams: Jarvis Moss DE

The Rams would jump all over the best edge rusher in the draft so long as he clears medically. The Rams extended Leonard Little for 3 years during the season, but he'll be 33 years old to start the season and Victor Adeyanju probably isn't considered the DE of the future.

3-4 OLB/ 4-3 end could also be a option because if tomlin plans on switching to the 4-3 in the long run .

with the packers seeing most of the offensive tallent taken off the board to help bret retool for one more year. they go to help rebuild the defense taking AMOBI OKOYE Dt Lousiville to help beef up the middle of there defense. With his youth, he can be a factor on this team for a longtime to come.

#17 Jacksonville -- T. Smith, QB OSU

We're half way through the first round and I think it's time for someone to reach for a QB!!! Leftwhich and Gerard clearly were not the answer. The cupboard is bare and it's time to restock. One of the Drews (Stanton or Tate) will likely be around in round 2 or 3, but the Jags get impatient and jump on the Heisman winner.

#18 Cincinnati selects Marcus McCauley, CB Fresno State

With the top two DE's gone, the top 2 DT's gone, and the top LB gone off the board, the Bengals go with the next big thing. McCauley has the size, 6'1" 205 lbs, and the speed, 4.35, that the Bengals covet. With any hope, McCauley can be the next Jonathan Joseph for the Bengals. Well minus the marijuana charges that is.

Daymeion Hughes, CB outta California.

Reasoning, the G-men are 28th in the league in pass defence, not needing to worry too much about filling the empty gap tiki's leaving behind because they have jacobs they decide to take Daymeion.

and if Tennesea takes Daymeion, The G-Men select Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh.

#19 Tennessee selects Justin Blalock, OG Texas

The titans have already found their franchise QB in last years first round pick Vince Young. They have a pile of RB's in Travis Henry, Chris Brown, and last years pick LenDale White. They also have a quality TE in Ben Troupe. The WR's group is weak with their top 2 WR's UFA but at this point in the draft any WR still available would be a reach at this point. If this team is going to flourish in the future it is going to have to do so by protecting Vince Young and opening holes for the RB's. Blalock is massive at 6'4" and 329 LBS and quick enough to pull effectively with his 5.25 speed.

Edited...again. Once more, the mock seems likely to get to the Cowboys at 23 today and, again, I will be unavailable until this evening. So Dallas will take whichever one of these players is left after WCA picks for NE.

1. Reggie Nelson, S Florida. Best player left on the board. Will almost certainly go higher in the real draft. Need and BPA meet nicely for the 'boys, and their porous secondary gets a big boost.

2. Levi Brown, OT Penn State. Age is showing on the Cowboys o-line and they are delighted to see a tackle of Brown's quality still available here.

#21 Denver Broncos select Leon Hall, CB Michigan

With the unfortunate and untimely death of starting CB Derrant Williams, there is now a hole to fill in the starting secondary. Hall is the best CB available at this point so this is a no brainer.

#22 New England (from Seattle) selects - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida

With potential hits to the secondary in Samuel and Hobbs entering free agency, and the likes of Artrell Hawkins playing a big role in the depleted secondary... Nelson is a no-brainer for the Patriots.

Age is showing on the Cowboys o-line and they are delighted to see a tackle of Brown's quality still available here.
