Seriously, what's going on here? Do you all subscribe to the "Do as I say not as I do" form of leadership? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to argue about what you do in your little corner of the Internet. I have no agenda here and I'm not anti-GoBengals.com (I actually really enjoy your site as a whole). I'm just pointing out the contradiction in what you expect from others versus what I've seen you do (in one thread that I viewed along with the "crybabykins" comment towards Wretched One you made earlier).

I'm trying to be as objective as possible here. Like I mentioned earlier, I bitched at Wretched One for posting his whiny diatribe in the first place, so I hope you understand it's nothing personal.

I couldn't have said it any better! And this was the entire point I have always tried to make.

And to Kirkendall, maybe you should go back and read some of the archives from over at the other site where he said all the other Bengals boards sucked and how his got "So many hits" per day/week, and yadda yadda yadda...

I'm not trying to start a fight here...but sober up a little bit before you get in bed with the drunk chick from the bar, because you don't know what you might wake up laying next to. :sure:

Soooo how about them Reds!?!?

:artist:

That's fine. If that's their opinion, then that's their opinion. I like it here have remained loyal here for years. If they don't like us then they don't like us. I'm not getting into a pissing match with other BENGALS boards and if they want to play that game, then they're playing with themselves. (TOTALLY MEANT for that to sound that way..) :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Like I said before, it's not about quantity, it's about quality. Plus we have a casino! :sure:

Be fair though. These people, along with our resident owner B24, put a lot of money and spend a lot of time on these boards -- all everyone else does is talk about the Bengals and/or bitch about the mods.

It's their house and we're just guests. If people feel that's unfair, then people will leave and the owner will be alone. I'm not defending the board, just the whole ideology that owners can't set and modify their own rules in mid form. It's their right. Then at that point, it's your right to move to another board.

I understand that they pay money for their own forums and they can do as they please. I mean, in all honesty, GoBengals could place a flashing banner on the front page that says "We have buried the putrid corpse of liberty," if he was so inclined. (not that GoBengals mods are fascists - just using Mussolini's quote as an example.) What I'm saying is that one of the rules at the Go Bengals message board is 'NO PERSONAL ATTACKS.' Now, that rule should either enforced on everyone or enforced on no one. There is no middle ground or gray area, or at least there shouldn't be.

Eventually people are going to see the mods over there taking personal shots at people and sooner or later, they'll start doing the same. On the other hand, with respectful replies from moderators, forum members are made to feel comfortable and welcome. Because of this, most people will treat the moderators and each other with a higher level of respect. You know the old quote "Attitude reflects leadership"? Well, it's valid...especially in this situation.

For instance, you just disagreed with me, but in your reply you didn't take any kind of personal shot, you didn't swear at me, and you didn't call me any names. You were respectful and coureous and didn't make me feel like I was being harassed just because you carry a Moderator tag around under your user name. Also, none of the other moderators came flying in to tell me I was "owned" or any other nonsense.

Now, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to run their site. I don't post over there and what they do doesn't affect me in the least. If I'm coming off as holier than thou, I apologize. I'm just trying to point out that from a leadership standpoint, you have to follow your own rules if you expect the general population to do so as well. Otherwise it's as if the inmates are running the asylum and chaos will ensue.

I don't think any rational person would be in disagreement here. It's just a question of professionalism, and whether or not those that run a given board give a rat's butt about it. The guys over at Go-Bengals play their own game, and us Bengalszoneers really have no place talking them down for it. Any members at any site can move elsewhere whenever they please.

Hey, if they are banning people needlessly, then fine. More for us. B)

Great post BTG.

I would like to end on one note though. I believe also the community needs to work and help enforce the rules. For years we've encouraged most users to bring issues up to us or rules broken we might miss. That way it works two fold. One, broken rules are being reacted to and two, the mods can have just as much fun making fun of the Browns with fellow posters.

;)

I think warning people of what is allowed should be done, before any type of punishment should occur, that way they know not to do it, if they break it again though, then yes I'd suspend them.
