Willie deserves HOF. We’ll see how close he gets.
  2. The Knee

Just a good example of how meaningless stats can be manipulated to fit a narrative. Billy Price? Yeah he may have missed games with an injury but that was clearly a situation that he was over matched and the guy behind him was clearly better. So yeah, your hurt, go heal yourself. Might have been different if he was actually good. Ross similar thing. Marvin didn't want the pick he wanted OJ Howard. So yeah, Ross sit over there until your healthy and just sit there. Probably would have been different as rookie IF Marvin was on board. Ced - they drafted him knowing he'd be PUP Dre - They had every former first round CB playing very well. He got hurt but wasn't going to be counted on as a rookie or even really a 2nd year player. Jackson, Williams, Burrow, were kicks in the nuts for sure.
  3. The Knee

This Dr. Chao on Fox Sports thinks the talk of Burrow sitting out 2021 and wait for 2022 is a gross over reaction. He said many times with an ACL tear there additional damage and people are over reacting to the news of the MCL, not all that uncommon. Not all that more complicated. Basically repairing ACL and letting MCL heal. Remains confident that he'll be back for 2021, BUT of course he'll be stronger through out 2021. Wouldn't rule out starting week 1. Not Wentz. Not Bridgewater.

PFF's pre season tackle write up. They were high on last year's class and think this one is a good one too. Slater comes in at No. 6 They have Sewell No. 1 and Leatherwood No. 2 https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2021-nfl-draft-preseason-offensive-tackle-rankings Good reading.
  5. The Knee

Timeline right now is dependent on politics and swelling. There are millions at stake and various opinions. Who does the surgery? Where? Then who leads the rehab and how does that work if it’s different parties? Summary from a Reds doctor on Bengals line. Swelling can delay the procedure as well. I think Carson’s was put off due pro longed swelling.

Jonah Williams was the best tackle in his class and he is developing nicely. So adding the best tackle from this draft class doesn’t matter? That sounds stupid.
  7. The Knee

Nothing you can do; just wait and see... With Palmer I remember the surgeon over played his work by claiming it was career threatening and I believe there was push back from the Palmer family at the time. Something like everything can be called career threatening at some point using worse case scenario. Also from Palmer it was apparent in July he would be back but they slowed rolled his return to TC and he came back against the Packers in preseason. One of the better preseason memories I have. Crowd went nuts when jogged into the huddle. Fans say Palmer was never the same and maybe he wasn't but he had Pro Bowl season following year and was rated in the 90s. Slight decrease in passer rating which could easily been explained by the loss of Brahm, Levi Jones and all the other injury and game losses from suspension.
  8. 2021 NFL Draft

Yeah, I think this year's FA market looks good for guards but are they really going to dump $10 mil of cap space or more into one? I doubt it. I'm also skeptical of the improvement you actually would get from FA vet tackle. I'm leaning towards drafting the best tackle in the draft and hope it works out and the guy doesn't need a long ramp up time to get going.

So the point isn't moot then is it? Just give the NFL coaching staff highly drafted players? I don't know if Turner is a joke or not and the non sense is believing you can just change a coaching staff and give them guys like Hart and everything will be fine. Thus bringing us back up to the current portion of discussing who they should draft, duh!

Jonah looks good to me, who's coaching him?
  11. 2021 NFL Draft

This isn't an easy off season for the Bengals. Unfortunately you have to say good by to Atkins and Green unless they are willing to work on 3rd tier deals. That sucks for a fan. You must sign William Jackson and Lawson. I would prioritize a late summer deal with Bates. IF any of these pieces leave then your are taking steps back IF you don't throw significant caps dollars or draft pick into a replacement. So that's probably $25-30 mil in cap room. Free Agent guard probably at least 10 mil in cap too. I'd say realistically they need 7-10 top 150 draft picks. Accounting for their typical hit rate. Only way to come close to that is trade out of some spots. However, league wide there are not a whole impact offensive linemen in a draft class. Sewell with no college reps. Can you afford to trade out of getting him? Can he come in and have an impact skipping his last season? Similar issue as last year. Clearly Burrow was worth the pick. However, keeping the right to draft him robbed you of additional draft picks that they need to build around him. I hope Sewell makes the grade. He's there when they draft. Select him and hopefully he's an impact tackle. But you are then needing pixy dust looking for rookie impacts from 4th and 5th rounders if you stay and select him.
  12. Offensive Line Draft Talk Thread

As always a team needing offensive line hopes the draft grades out deep. Too early to tell. However, the bad news from recent draft there are very few impact offensive lineman. A lot of the dudes we discuss as hopeful 2nd round adds barely play or play at a level comparable to Hart their first couple years. With that thought, IF Sewell makes the grade after all the combines etc, then he's got to be the pick. My hesitation would be.... Prior to the Burrow injury and having to go on the road and listen via radio; Jonah Williams was impressive vs. Chase Young one v one pass rush. I didn't see how well he did when Finley came in. Sewell sat out and you input him at LT???? Are lack of reps an issue? The Bengals can't really suffer through a long rookie learning period at LT next year with a QB that's going to be trying to gain back confidence on a repaired knee.

Notable name missing from above is Leatherwood. Some rankings have him as the 2nd best tackle. Trey Smith would be an excellent draft pick in the 2nd round if you can get past his blood clot issue. But there are scout reports that had him as the nation's 2nd best guard in 2017 as a freshman. Who was the best that year? Quentin Nelson. Trey Smith probably works his way up to the first round, is my guess.

Of course a lot can change because Becton at 1 point was seen as a 2nd rounder and lifted to the top 10.

Lap definitely was thinking aloud when talking about Brandon Schereff You could almost here him beg for that kind of FA signing.
  16. Giants @ Bengals Game Thread

    That’s one uncomfortable flight
  17. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

Wasn’t really a bad o-line play. Just bad luck.
  18. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

It’s bad enough they know surgery is necessary and they won’t know how bad until they get in there to fix.
  19. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

Burrow sent a tweet saying “see you next year”. “Can’t get rid of me that easily”
  20. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

Dave Lap is talking about Brandon Shereff.... You can hear the gears in his head working. Top lineman. Free Agent.
  21. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

Yep that’s bad. Might need to draft a QB.
  22. Bengals @ Football Team Game Thread

Lap and Dave are saying CBS refusing to show replay soooooo great. Could this be career threatening?
