I know the rules have changed, but has the mentality? I always used to joke with my friends and dad when Jack Lambert was in his prime, how he almost looked a little psycho, and how, especially on defense, to be a really good defensive player you almost have to have a screw or two loose!

All I am saying Army, is, yes, they are called to the professional 'lime light' standard, I'm not disagreeing, but they are also people with emotions. When you got Peko getting penalized for coming out onto the field in a rage, something is amiss, beyond folk you expect to act up!!
  3. But Seriously Folks (Not Quoting Joe Walsh album)

This is disturbing and is the kind of thing that clearly needs to be dealt with.

I'm not going to disagree with the intellect Army, but we aren't on the field getting punched in the mouth. When guys like Peko get fed up, you have to wonder how much are they supposed to take. You have proudly proclaimed your anger issues, but profess you aren't a professional football player and not under the same scrutiny. Problem is, professional or not, they still are human beings with emotion just like you and me. Just like Whit did the year he got into it with the Raiders and got ejected for sticking up for Dalton. Burfict is cut from the same mold as Ray Lewis. Maybe Cat is right.

Agree with most of this, problem is, we have to deal with the hand MB deals us, or switch allegiance, because Marvin isn't going anywhere and the lack of discipline will piggyback with him!

I didn't watch much football during the 90s and I really didn't start following the Bengals, closely again, until Palmer came along. I certainly know very little and watched even less of the Ravens play, but wasn't Ray Lewis cut from the same mold as Burfict? Same type of aggressive play and penalties?
  7. Zim and Gruden

Skins is the only team left I care about. If and when they get eliminated, I will root for whoever is playing Arizona.
  8. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

What about Howdy?? You said it's all on him!!!! Isn't there ANYTHING you can pin on him from the sidelines?
  9. Steelers @ Bengals II Pregame Thread/Game Thread

Absolutely! The only thing they would have accomplished last night, was finally win a playoff game. And really, now that everyone has had a chance to get their second wind from the travesty last night, what would winning last night really mean in the big picture? So they win a playoff game, limp into New England and get spanked. They are still one of the 31 losers.

Some key FAs to be signed as well.
  11. Steelers @ Bengals II Pregame Thread/Game Thread

I think it's like the 1919 Black Sox scandal.
  12. Steelers @ Bengals II Pregame Thread/Game Thread

I disagree. This was wayyyy more painful than the SB loss. The Bengals did not give that SB away. Montana did what he did best and beat them! Like I said, if I didn't know better, from the 2 point conversion attempt forward, it was almost like the Bengals were doing things to 'throw' the game!
  13. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

Wow! That's a shocker!!! Did anyone here really need Adam to tell us that??? NOT!!!!!!
  14. But Seriously Folks (Not Quoting Joe Walsh album)

Does it look as bad after watching as it did last night? No suspension for the Bernard hit?
  15. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

Here's my son's "hypothetical" option scenario. Offer Marvin option of GM or the back door, hire Coughlin. Let him bring McAdoo as OC. (I put hypothetical so Cincy doesn't think I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth! )
  16. Steelers @ Bengals II Pregame Thread/Game Thread

That's right Cat, if you watch the video, listen to Sanders take, it isn't anywhere close to the Bernard fiasco.
  17. But Seriously Folks (Not Quoting Joe Walsh album)

???? It has nothing to do with what he's thinking. Okay, listen to what Sanders is saying, and look at the actual hit. It wasn't helmet to helmet, it was his shoulder and he tucked away. Just saying, don't think it was as bad as perceived. Definitely not worth a suspension.
  18. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

I understand this is what the forums are for and I'm not criticizing it, but for me, we know the reality is, it won't happen unless Marvin retires. It is what it is.
  19. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

That's what I mean. The Bengals can block him because he is under contract. Or they could trade him to SF for their first round pick 7th pick!
  20. They Want Hue, They Want Hue So Bad, Baby

Your argument is very plausible, but not reality. Dalton is the franchise QB. Not sure if they will block a McCarron move or not. IMHO, Dalton is NOT the problem! I think last night showed that unmistakably!

Don't bet the farm or anything you can't afford to lose!

Just came from Jungle Noise. Found this interesting: http://thebengalsboard.com/Thread-Bengals-player-says-he-knew-Tez-and-Jones-would-lose-games-for-them "Ed Werder reports that a Bengals Player told him that he KNEW 55 and 24 would lose games for them because coaches let their actions go UNCHECKED!" per Adam Silver "Jones conceded, however, that many outsiders would blame Lewis for failing to control his team. And, truth be told, several players inside the Bengals' locker room -- none of whom wanted his name used, for obvious reasons -- felt that Lewis deserved the criticism, citing a season-long lack of discipline among some defensive players in games, practices and meetings. "Eventually," one player said, "this (expletive) catches up to you." Said another: "You put up with enough (expletive) for enough time, guys think they can continually do it." Lewis, for his part, refused to rebuke Jones, saying, "I'm not going to single out our guys. We had enough chances to win the football game." EDIT: Michael Silver, rather.

You must be in mourning this morning Steaker! I'm sure you will cheer up once you find a way to blame Howdy Doody for this horrid display of a playoff game!! Looking forward to it!
