  1. Auden Tate, WR - 7th Round

Saying that Core is gone is an easy call except for special teams. He's role there is pretty large and he's good at it. There is no other receiver that can fill that role for him unless Tate is faster than we suspect. The hope, however, is that a new guy from a different position may be able to fill the void. One of the DBs, maybe? Army, are you sure they didn't go with 6 WRs last year? I thought Core was active but was pretty strictly a teams guy. I may not be remembering correctly. It'll be very interesting to see how it plays out.
  2. Preseason Game 1 - Bengals vs. Bears

I don't think you can ask for much more from a preseason game. When you envision the best-case scenario for a Bill Lazor offense it involves moving people around and getting the ball into the hands of playmakers in any way possible (i.e. putting Mixon out wide). Very encouraging. Price held up well. Ross goofed early, but nobody blinked and they kept going back to him. Good times... It's not officially onto the training camp battle for starters on the right side of the o-line. Pollack said the guys they started last night were only ahead of others by a very tiny amount. So, we could see some swapping around there. Not much to say on the defense. I expect it to be good, so I'm not overly concerned either way.
  3. Preseason Game 1 - Bengals vs. Bears

1a) John Ross 1b) Billy Price It'll be so meaningful for Ross to get some live-action snaps against another team. He's essentially starting from scratch, so the more experience he gets the better.
  4. A Football Life

Of all the people they could go with, they choose Palmer? Seems like an odd choice.
  5. Training Camp - 2018

No fumbled snaps today, so that was nice to see.
  6. Someone else can start a pessimistic rebuttal thread if you'd like, but it's not welcome here! If, by some miracle, the Bengals have a fantastic season.... I mean, deep playoff/Super Bowl type of season...what is the #1 key to it all? My pick: Joe Mixon - people keep referring to him as the next Le'Veon Bell. And, as much as I dislike anyone wearing yellow and black, adding Bell to this roster would have an undeniable impact. Mixon's first season #s are comparable to Bell's and he has all the tools. Throw in a hopeful upgrade at center, a healthy Jake Fisher, and an upgrade at left tackle? He could have a special year. A 1500 yard, 12 TD kind of year. We've had some good running backs in the intervening years, but who was the last true super-star level RB to wear stripes? Corey Dillon, perhaps? It could be a game changer.
  7. Bengals Cut Brandon LaFell

I think the real issue was that we often saw LaFell leading the team in targets, which is absurd when AJ is on the field. And, often, it wasn't even close.
  8. Bengals Cut Brandon LaFell

Joe Goodberry's been screaming it from the rafters for two seasons now :P
  9. Bengals Cut Brandon LaFell

Guys like AJ Hawk don't really compare because they were largely ineffective players. As Army has pointed out, this was the strangest part: hey let him go while his #s we're still good. AND, he was a solid locker room guy by all accounts. They simply wanted the youth to shine. Unlike last year when Jeremy Hill was still "starting" because it was good for Mixon to see a pro out there. It seems like this sort of nonsense has left the building.
  10. Bengals Cut Brandon LaFell

Brandon Tate is one of the big examples. Year, after year, after year. Robert Geathers fits the mold. Michael Johnson is arguably there now. He's not finished, but how much value does he still have? Peko. Maualuga. Bodine, until this year...FINALLY. I'm sure we can find other examples.
  11. Bengals Cut Brandon LaFell

The Bengals claim that no request was made and they wouldn't grant that type of request anyway. Either way, it was the right move and such an un-Bengals like thing to do. They ALWAYS stick with the "wise" veteran longer than they should. I like LaFell, but it's time for the youth movement. I'm on board.
  12. Auden Tate, WR - 7th Round

Hopefully his injury today doesn't keep him out too long. He needs all the reps he can get if he's going to make the roster.
  13. Training Camp - 2018

Has he had health issues? Only reason he stayed off the field last year was due to coaching...ah...deficiencies.
  14. Training Camp - 2018

    Yes, he's done.
  15. 2018 Reds

Annoying loss tonight. A couple of bass running blunders cost them. I'm afraid we're in for a rough stretch. Trading Duvall was the right move long term, but with Winker and Schebler both hurt, our outfield has next to zero offense. On the plus side, Bailey has put together two really strong outings in a row. It would be a huge boost if he came around to what he used to be.
  16. 2018 Reds

    And Harvey sticks around. GOOD.
  17. 2018 Reds

Harvey? It's starting to look like absolutely nothing. As I said before, that doesn't upset me.
  18. Auden Tate, WR - 7th Round

    I hereby name him Groot.
  19. 2018 Reds

Duvall traded to the Braves for 2 pitchers and an outfielder. This trade makes a ton of sense. Not this season with Winker injured, but certainly for the future. While I really like Duvall, the outfield is getting crowded. With Senzel likely claiming the 2nd base position when he's called up, Scooter will probably end up in the outfield eventually. A Winker/Gennet/Hamilton or Schebler outfield looks pretty good. Then when Trammel comes up, you've got another piece out there to work with. As for the pitchers, neither look to be stars, but one of them is a 1st round pick. He's serviceable as is, but who knows. He's the kind of guy that could turn it around and become something eventually. I'm nervous that Hamilton may end up traded as well. I understand it with the lack of hitting but he sure is fun to watch and has got to be a great locker room guy.
  20. Training Camp - 2018

Well, Eifert played and played well by all accounts. Ran routes, caught passes, took hits, went to the ground...and even got back up. *fingers crossed*
  21. Fantasy 2018

No, we have 11. Need one more.
  22. Fantasy 2018

Invite re-sent. Let me know if you don't get it.
  23. The Rush Offense

I hear you. Though, center was a bigger concern for me than the right side. There's so much riding on Price this season.
  24. 2018 Reds

I'm secretly hoping they don't trade Harvey. I know he's gone after this season, but he's fun to watch and I don't think they'll get a worthwhile return on the trade.
  25. Fantasy 2018

Ah shoot. Are you Rad Nads or The Guardians?
