  1. No RFA Tender for Tab, Keift

You gotta see Rowe as the long-term backup at QB...Fitz gives you depth.... Tab is an interesting situation, but his last contribution was in 2005. Keift was never really a Bengal. Could have used him for depth if healthy, but.....At least one OT will be drafted. I predict 2.....
  2. Stacy Andrews: Franchise Player

Interesting to see all the negativity surrounding this move. I like it. I think it is a stepping stone to a long-term contract. Big Willie's replacement needs to be found and signed for at least 3 years after Willie retires. Stacy is that person. This allows greater bargaining power as other teams can negotiate contract offers with Stacy. This allows the Bengals greater maneuverability in long-term contract talks. Bottom line they saw Stacy as Willie's replacement and locked him up with the goal being a long-term agreement.
  3. Reds sign Brandon Phillips

He's not Joe Morgan...yet. Or Ron Oester....At least from a hair standpoint....
  4. Just sending it back to who made it.....
  5. The Falcs also released Marcus Wilkins today....I would welcome him back.....
  6. Reds sign Brandon Phillips

  8. In defense of Chad Johnson...

Good job on only making it to the introduction of my post, not my actual argument. You missed the point entirely. Get a better intro....
  9. In defense of Chad Johnson...

Any post that starts off asking me if I remember the nineties will not get read by me. I am so tired of that sorry way of thinking. We may be mediocre and dealing with prima donnas but remember the nineties? Marvin is driving us to mediocre records but remember the nineties? I am a big Marvin supporter but its not because of comparisons to a different era. We should all be over that and remove it from our arguments.
  10. Did you hate these teams?

Don't mind the Pats. Just don't like Belichick. But this year they seemed to outdo themselves with their arrogance. I didn't even hate the 80s Niners. It's more respect with them. The 70s Steelers? May be another matter!
  11. 88and38 has morphed into YatesHorsepower for 2008! Back to defend the championship! Let's have fun and good luck to everyone!
  12. Marvin's drafts/Marvin's worst 5

Way off. 1) Odell Thurman 2) Chris Perry 3) Matthias Askew 4) Caleb Miller 5) Keiwan Ratliff Best Picks Given Time 1) N Duke 2) Ethan Kilmer 3) Whitworth 4) Marvin White 5) Geathers
  13. The 2008 Defense

Suggs AND Briggs huh???? Keep dreaming.....
  14. Bengals Interview Zimmer.

Guy did well in DAL and is well respected around the league.... Nice....
  15. New coaches/New OC/other changes?

Why set your sights so low on the LB coach??? I vote for Tom Tumulty (notice comment dripping in sarcasm)...Or maybe James Francis. The dude could use the coin to pay his child support....
  16. New coaches/New OC/other changes?

bengals.com confirming all other assistant coaches were re-upped for '08....with the caveat that "some may have better offers".....
  17. Doc: Hire a GM, Mike

Well, Doc didn't say poor drafts, he said mediocre drafts, which strikes me as accurate. Yes, they do find a TJ or Peko or Nduke -- but for every one of those there's a Rucker or Nicholson or Chris Perry or Kwash or Ratliff or Caleb. Most Bengals drafts end up being one step forward, one step back. Daugherty ties together the GM and personnel/scouting issues here, which I generally consider two separate proposals. The idea that the team needs increased scouting resources and a top-flight personnel guy to me seems beyond debate. When it comes to a full-fledged GM, the question is more debatable. I think the biggest argument for it is that a real GMs job is on the line when the team doesn't perform; they have a powerful incentive to win. Compare that with the current Bengals GM triumverate of Mike, Katie and Troy. If the team loses, will they lose their jobs? Not in a million years. IMHO the lack of urgency and accountability that always seems to dog this team has its root right there. Nail on the head!
  18. First, Chad has said the same type of things. Only recently he complained that from the start of this past season his new position coach emphasized the things he doesn't do well, unlike Hue Jackson's habit of constantly blowing sunshine up Ocho's skinny patoot. Next, Chad's problems should be easily correctable, but he repeatedly refuses to accept responsibility and insists that he'll change nothing. Worse, he jokes about his shortcomings and year after year they remain problems. Meanwhile, Palmer has no problem with accepting blame, even when it's undeserved, and his playing problems, demonstrated almost weekly by high throw after high throw, seem to be rooted in throwing technique and footwork....problems he didn't have until recently. I agree completely....Just seeing if there was even a small amount of doubt about CP's leadership and Chad's "blow-hardedness".
  19. What if Chad said the same exact thing??? To play devil's advocate (being I stand behind Carson 100%) what gives Carson a free pass on these comments? Why is it not seen as "causing a rift" with the coaches, or being a prima donna?
  20. Interesting....Would like more details on what would cause Carson to want Zampese out....
  21. Palmer, others complain of no bubble

The fact that an NFL team would consider driving to a college campus to use their bubble sounds kinda funny....Maybe UC will build THEIR bubble at PBS....
  22. Brian Billick
