Take it easy. No one said what you're rolling your eyes at. I'm as optimistic as they come... but I do think Cook needs to improve in his pass blocking.
That said, we've got video of precisely two plays with no pads. The sky isn't falling yet.

Sure, except there had been reports since prior to that article being written that they weren't sure of:
#1. Andre Smith was going to be fully healed
#2. Andre Smith was going to be able to win the starting spot
I'm not as worried as my comments might have come across and for the weakness I view our o-line as, I don't see it as being a very big problem at this point. I was more taking a shot at a ranking I didn't agree with regardless of who was starting at the RT position.
Like Derek, I'm still very pumped with what I expect out of our offense.

Y'know what? Our defense SHOULD blow our o-line apart. They're top-5 NFL, right?
What you see on that vid is a GOOD thing. Our o-line isn't going to be facing that good a D every week.
In short, f--k sugarteets. If he never gets on the field I don't care. I regret ever championing the bum.

No... watch the video. It was merely pointed out that in a real game situation, Palmer would have taken a sack immediately. What was the response? Things like: "I don't think we have the 2nd best O-Line in the NFL."

Who said we should toss the O-Line again?
I read one comment criticizing Roland... which has been a common theme long before the "one play in practice." I said that Cook needs to improve in his pass blocking, which is something I've been saying since the midseason last year.
So, it's an exaggeration to claim that anyone is in panic mode. And it's a straw man argument to claim the statements made were based on one play. And it's nothing short of ridiculous to pretend like people are throwing in the towel when you hear someone say there's room for improvement.

I haven't heard one person say "toss the o-line". I've heard comments about Roland making a poor play as well as Cook. I myself made the comment about the ranking of the o-line. All that being said, they are simple comments that are pretty accurate and regardless of the accuracy of those comments, I believe this is still a top 10 o-line (maybe better) regardless of who is the RT starter.
When you can say the o-line, which is regarded as a top 10 unit is probably the weakness of the team, that's probably a good sign for the upcoming season.

It's one of the best run blocking o-lines in the league, and the pass blocking is probably about average or maybe a tad below. Palmer gets rid of the ball so fast sometimes that it shouldn't hurt as much. Hell, with all his new toys, he won't have those frustrating 2009 plays where he had no choice but to dance around in the pocket with nobody open.
